Here are some tips and great information about tick bites that I have learned from personal experience!
Preventing the tick in the first place:

● Wear light clothing.
● Stay on paths and out of long grass.
● Wear Bug spray.
● Essential oils are great to make homemade sprays. Key ingredients (oils) are cedarwood, lemongrass, tea tree, geranium, peppermint. I love Doterra outdoor blend. Badger brand is also great. You can make your own. I’m not a fan of any product containing deet, as it is too toxic.
● Buy a tick removal kit for home and camping and to take on vacations. The tool is like a two headed little foot and can be found on Amazon.
● Check your kids and yourself often and daily. My Chiropractor and I often share tick checking stories. Our kids are the same age. I’m that annoying Mom. I say to my kids, “Oh I’m sorry I love you so much, now lift up your arms!”

If you or a loved one get bit:
● Do not use oils, matches, tweezers or Vaseline! These things will make the tick mad. They get aggravated and throw up inside you, carrying pathogens that can cause chronic illness. They cause not just Lyme disease, but also Babesia and Bartonella, to name a few of tickborne illnesses.
● Use the removal device. Go under the body close to the skin and twist and pull up.
● Have a baggie close by to save the tick for sending in to test.
● Cleanse the affected area and rub antiseptic on area immediately. I use systemic formulas WO China healing oil on all bug bites. Continue to cleanse for a few days after the bite.
Some personal advice for the adult removing the tick from a child:
● Stay calm.
● Stay positive. Your positive energy will instill in them better energy to fight off any possible pathogens from the tick bite.
● It is our job to be calm, cool and collected! NO chaos. This can be scary but you have to handle it properly.
